About Post 647 Scholarship
Our American Legion Post 647 has been awarding local Veterans or their lineage for many years.
Deadline
All applications and documents must be completed and have a postmark date no later than May 1 of the current year. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Award Amounts and Distribution
- This is a one-time award in the amount of $500-1000.
- The Scholarship Committee of the American Legion Post 647 will consider your application and make its recommendations to the Board of Directors of Post 647. All decisions of the Board of Directors are final. Announcement of the scholarship awards will be made in June.
- Funds will be disbursed after commencement of the academic term each year, payable to the student.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible for the American Legion Post 647 Scholarship, the following requirements must be met.
- Applicant must either be a member in good standing of Post 647, a spouse of a current member of Post 647, or a lineal descendant of a current member of Post 647.
- Applicant must have applied to a trade school, college or university accredited by an agency.
- Applicant must have demonstrated scholastic ability.
- Applicant demonstrates character, integrity and leadership through participation in school and/or extracurricular activities.

- Official high school transcripts (sealed)
- SAT and/or ACT scores (if required for admission by the institution you will attend)
- Personal Statement
- Two letters of recommendation
